Parents banned from watching their children play school sports without criminal record checks.
Seriously??? I think this is taking ‘protecting’ our children just a tad too far.
‘The red tape restriction is being forced on parents by overcautious bosses at Isambard Community School in Swindon, Wiltshire, in a bid to weed out potential paedophiles.’
Yes I can understand the threat of paedophiles, having children myself; this has always been one of my biggest worries. Surely if they are asking parents to have checks, are they suggesting that some children at that school have paedophile parents, if so, then why the hell are the children still living/seeing those parents?
‘The school introduced the Big Brother measure at the start of the term to prevent strangers from accessing other parts of the school from the playing fields.’
Quite a simple answer to that, don’t let strangers into the school, simple!!! Most schools are pretty secure this day and age, for the same concern, of strangers wandering around the school. Most schools have a reception that is secure and access is need to enter buildings and most school gates are shut, only allowing one access point into the school which normally leads to reception. If this school does not have this type of set up, then they should consider it, high on their list.
This quote suggests that their reception is similar to above, ‘’The current access arrangements are frustrating for both Isambard staff and parents and have recently resulted in reception staff and PE staff being on the receiving end of verbal abuse from parents who have become frustrated trying to get into or out of the school.’
So what is the problem then??? And yes they would more and likely get verbal abuse of me, if my kids went to that school too!
Some schools do invitations to events, you write how many you want, the invites are sent to you and you show the invite when entering the school, simple solution to stop strangers from entering a school or your name is put on a list and crossed off when you arrive.
I would be fuming if my kids went to that school, how are they going to monitor other visits by parents, like parents evening and other school activities???
When the parents pick up the children from school, are they asked to prove who they are and to prove they have been CRB checked? No of course not, that would take too long every night!
I personally would take my child out of the school and move them and urge everyone else to do the same, but before that, I would kick up as much fuss as possible, getting as many parents involved as possible. I would ask all staff to provide me with their CRB, to check and get it issued to all parents to help me feel that my children and other children are safe from paedophiles working in the school. After-all we hear in the news time and time again how someone slips through the net at schools and are accused of abusing children while working in a school and just the last week. I would turn the tables and once I have caused enough problems I would pull my children out and stick two fingers up to them.
