So, i see the whiter-than-white Catholics are at it again.
Whilst speaking to French bishops about French Premier, Francois Hollande‘s plans to legalize gay marriage, His Holiness *coughs* said: “The family is threatened in many places by a defection of human nature… Marriage and the family are institutions that must be promoted and defended from every possible misrepresentation of their true nature, since whatever is injurious to them is injurious to society itself”.
Like from paedophilic Catholic priests you mean?
His Holiness *coughs* believes that ‘disobeying’ the Catholic laws on marriage, that it will hinder “the full development of the human person” and “undermine the future of humanity itself”
But then, he would wouldn’t he?
You would think that from the leader of a Christian organisation, that he might show a little tolerance to others… YOU WOULD THINK… But then what do you expect from a man who as a child served in the ‘Hitlerjugend’ or the Hitler youth. What? The Pope? A member of the Hitler Youth?
Yes… The pope was a member of the Hitler youth as a child. How can he be expected to be taken seriously then, if this is his background? Impartiality was never something the catholic church was known for, but seriously? A former member of the Hitler Youth and a product of Nazi Germany, commenting on homosexual issues?
Its comedy gold… So much so, the jokes almost writes themselves.
Lady Gaga, someone known for her eccentric dress-sense and lifestyle, though, makes a lot more sense. Speaking out against His Holiness’s *cough* word, she said: “What the Pope thinks of being gay does not matter,’ she said, ‘It doesn’t matter to the world. It matters to the people who like the Pope and follow the Pope.
“It’s not a reflection of all Christians. It is not a reflection of all religious people. It’s a point of view of one person… And to all the gay people here, may you live and love each other until the end of time. I hope you will have the human right to breed as an entirely equal, valuable and special member of society.”
Lady Gaga, someone I always thought of a bit of a shock-jock and attention seeker, is rapidly going up in my estimation. Her sentiments echo virtually anyone with half a brain, gay straight, bi or transsexual, christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu or Sikh (and anyone else I may have missed).
RATIONAL people, IE those who prefer the evidence of archaeology and science over the word of a book that could, lets face it, have been written as a practical joke for all we know (and has about as much basis in fact as David Icke‘s theory that the royal family are all lizard men from another planet) in general prefer to think of the world as it is, an ever evolving society of human beings, rather than a set of clones designed for the sole purpose of following the word of a 2000 year old book, can see that gay people are not ‘sick’ or ‘subhuman’ or a blight on humanity. They are as natural as every other living organism on this amazing planet, essential to the balance of a complex ecosystem.
The Catholic church needs a serious reality check. Lets face it, if you or i made a comment like that in a public place, we would most likely be arrested and questioned in a hate-crime related way, but any member of the church can freely express homophobic views and get away with it, because they’re are a man of the cloth… And frankly, that stinks. They should be no more or less accountable under the law than anyone else.
You cannot expect to be taken seriously if your still practicing values that even in the middle-ages were outdated.
To deny gay couples the right to marriage is nothing more than a human-rights violation, and those preventing it from happening should be tried in the Hague. But the Catholic church? violating human rights? surely not… well ask those who were tortured in the inquisition, or persecuted for being protestant, or any victim of child abuse at the hands of Priests that they so readily covered up.
Either EVERYONE has the right to marry, or NO-ONE does. So if the Catholic church insists on gay marriages not being allowed, i think we should go one step further and ban ALL marriages. Human rights apply to ALL, not just those the Catholic church approve of.
Not a very Christian attitude in my opinion, after all, doesn’t Christianity practice tolerance and acceptance of all? Surely this then includes gay people? as after all, they chose to shelter Nazi war criminals after WW2 and give them sanctuary, WHY is it so hard to accept that people cannot control how they are born and see them as HUMAN BEINGS rather than individuals who go against the writings of an imaginary god?
Religion, particularly Catholicism, is no longer even relevant. For what is religion but a way for primitive people with no understanding of the world, to explain why things happened. To believe in an invisible being with no more proof than a book written thousands of years ago, is daft, in fact its beyond daft, its stupid.
Religion is practiced by indoctrination, passed down through generations of people without the gumption to think for themselves, blindly believing that if they do as their chosen church, mosque, synagogue or whatever says, after they die, they will be resurrected to life ever after. Its just a shame that they will have to die to realise they were wrong and all those years of blindly going in the face of science and fact were wasted… The ultimate irony of course being that they wont KNOW they’re wrong.
Hang on, what have these views to do with the Catholic church being against gay marriage?
Nothing, i was just expressing MY opinion in the same offensive way as most Catholics tend to.
Oh sorry, did i upset the Catholics?…
